Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
